Lessons
NHR primarily teaches private lessons so that there is a solid half hour of individual attention with each student. Our horses are trained show horses that are sensitive to the aids to teach even the greenest beginner to ride with precision. We aim to provide each student with the tools and techniques necessary to be successful in their riding career in and out of the show ring and when riding independently of lessons. In addition, we appreciate the styles that each horse has to offer. Many of our students ride a variety of disciplines. English, Western, Dressage are our primary disciplines taught. NHR teaches riding lessons to students of various abilities.
15 Minute Private Lessons– A shorter lesson is ideal for children between the ages of 4-6. This lesson focuses on balance and getting familiar with the horse. Students will work primarily on the lunge line or side-by-side with the instructor.
30 Minute Private Lessons– This is the most frequently purchased lesson for riders of all skill levels. Lessons will take place both on and off the lunge line and will focus on balance, steering, ring and rider etiquette, and proper form. Unless approved by the instructor, children must be over the age of 6 to participate in this lesson.
Driving Lessons- Driving lessons consist of learning how to properly harness the horse, then learning to drive. This is an outdoor lesson.
Group Lessons- Group lessons are taught on Thursday nights during the fall and winter months. Please e-mail us for more information.
Horsemanship & Getting Acquainted -A horsemanship lesson is a great way for children to learn the basics of grooming, tacking and horse handling. This lesson meets for one hour, three weeks in a row. Lessons will be both indoor and out.
